Vessels of Passage reflects on amphorae as carriers of movement, value, and cultural exchange. Inspired by twenty-two vessels recovered from a maritime shipwreck, the work considers what continues after a journey is complete.
Rather than reconstructing the amphorae, the surface translates their passage into layered material presence. Forms emerge as impressions rather than objects, suggesting endurance through transformation. Texture, erosion, and accumulation operate as visual language, allowing history to be sensed rather than illustrated.
This work is part of the artist’s ongoing study of vessels as carriers of memory — where surface becomes archive and movement leaves its trace.
